I’m not a serious painter but I paint with watercolors when the weather is really nice and for some reason, it always puts me in such a good mood. Because I’m not a serious painter, I’m not personally equipped with all the necessary tools. One of them being a cloth or rag to soak up extra water or pigments from my brush. I would usually grab a paper towel but it began to feel wasteful and I didn’t always have one available when I did my painting outside of the house. That is when I came up with this simple idea. I am over the moon! I thought I had been defeated by an evil piece of technology but I overcame. I knew that a proper stand-off with a pair of stork scissors and ample amounts of tea would end in my eventual victory. And I didn’t even have to look at the instructional manual. Although, I probably should have.

Well, for our anniversary, Josh got me an embroidery machine. My happy dance was mostly for the extreme discount he got it but I was really excited to add it to my little home studio. I could finally get into quilting and create my own designs. It was going to be magical. I think Josh could literally see the stars in my eyes. I was ready.
Nope. No, I wasn’t. In fact, I freaking sucked at it. When I plugged the machine into my Mac and realized it was only compatible with PC, I knew this was going to be a long battle. I thought I was cute with my little drawings and I was going to make these awesome items. I was wrong people. So so wrong. It started with my rose owl design.
I won’t go into boring details but instead, I will show my pathetic-ness in photographs. Que the dramatic music!
My last attempt ending in this not so perfect but absolutely perfect to me version that I am in love with. I know you shouldn’t talk so fondly about your own work but this is major for me. Both the accomplishment AND the self appreciation.
If you were wondering, I did give myself and actual pat on the back. We all deserve one when life gets messy.
